Morley Farm’s role as the new AHDB strategic for the East of the UK has begun. Get a sense of what we are a part of and catch up on what other strategic farms have achieved already by joining regular lunchtime webinars this November.
Earlier in 2023, Morley Farm became the new AHDB strategic farm in the East of the UK. The programme lasts for 6 years. AHDB will invest in research projects here at Morley Farm. The subjects will be driven by a small steering group of farmers. The aim is that the research will bring together existing projects to develop practical solutions on a farm scale. The results will be disseminated in a number of ways to reach as many farmers as possible.
At Morley so far, three questions for investigation have been chosen:
- How to control ryegrass with less reliance on herbicide?
- How to control barley yellow dwarf virus with less reliance on insecticides?
- How to improve nitrogen use efficiency?
As Morley Farm’s role as a strategic farm has only just started there is not a lot to report from here as yet. However, three other farms around the country have several years of information and experience to share. Each Tuesday lunchtime in November, there are Strategic Cereal Farm Results Webinars.
