The list of the skills needed to run all or part of a business is as long as the list of tasks or enterprises you’re involved with in each rural business day. The course run by the John Edgar Trust (JET) covers the legal, interpersonal, financial and strategic skillset needed for you and the business to thrive.

Every agri-professional who has benefited from taking part in the JET course is standing on the shoulders of a mild-mannered man, deeply respected in his home county of Hampshire. In East Anglia, we have the ongoing positive input of Felix Cobbold through the charity in his name. From his connection with TMAF we also knew John Forrest, a remarkable local farmer. In memory of John – and his belief in the importance of sharing information that’s useful to farmers – we co-fund (with the Felix Cobbold Trust) a communication skills training course for a select group of eight participants each year. They all speak highly of what they gain.
Three weeks to make a lifelong difference
The JET management course runs for three separate weeks in the months of December 2025 and January and February 2026.
The cost of the course is subsidised by the Trust. The fee to each selected participant, or the business you work in, is only £500.
