TMAF and Morley Farms are pleased to announce that we have been accepted to become a AHDB strategic farm. AHDB have a national programme of monitor and strategic farms. The aim is to create a network for farmer-to-farmer discussion and learning. AHDB facilitate this by doing the hard work of organising the on-farm meetings, inviting people, arranging speakers etc.
Monitor farms test out new and different ideas on a half-field or tramline basis. Strategic farms take that testing to higher level by commissioning some fully replicated on-farm trials.
Becoming the Morley AHDB strategic farm is an opportunity for Morley farms to host more farmer-facing type research followed by some farmer-to-farmer discussion and interpretation.
As we have years of historical data, we can hit the ground running and draw upon previous work and experience. I believe there is a big gap between academic research and the practicalities of farming. By TMAF and AHDB working together we are well placed to help close this gap. Working together with the AHDB strategic farm network should further enhance this process.
